The Mizuno RunAustralia Challenge

SportsShoes x Mizuno are proud to be sponsoring ultra-distance runner Nikki Love on her epic RunAustralia Challenge. 

Attempting to set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest journey on foot from Perth to Sydney by a female, she is about to turn onto the Eyre Highway and take on the Nullabor Plains.

Nikki isn’t quite hitting her planned daily target, only hitting just over 50km a day, due to some issues she is having her right knee and some unseasonal temperatures, but she is still moving forward and will aim to make up some of the deficit during the 4 weeks crossing the Nullabor.

Here's what Nikki has to say so far;

''With the first 2 weeks done of RunAustralia, there have been quite a few ups and downs.  Literally!  The Perth Hills (on days 1 and 2), and the constant undulating roads have been tricky to deal with, as has the higher than expected temperatures.

I’ve developed a few pains in my right leg which are being treated by the Team (Sharif!) who has been watching John Gibbons KT taping videos on YouTube whenever we have signal, and this has led to me not hitting my daily target.

It feels like my body's adaption to this new ‘normal’ for me is taking longer than I would expect (normally onto the swing of things in about 10 days)and is probably down to my age and peri-menopausal changes in me.

So, I’m happy to be hitting over 50km a day and because I’m still moving forward in the right direction.

We’ll see what week 3 has to bring as we head out on to the Nullabor Plains...''
